Building Chattanooga's Music Scene
When we opened Track 29 in 2011, Chattanooga didn't have a venue that could attract national touring acts. We changed that.
Located within the historic Chattanooga Choo Choo complex, Track 29 became the largest privately owned music venue in the city—and eventually ranked as the 70th largest club in the world by ticket volume.
World-Class Talent
Over six years, Track 29 hosted some of the biggest names in music:
- Jack White
- Lindsey Buckingham
- Alabama Shakes
- Chris Stapleton
- And hundreds more
The venue was featured in Rolling Stone, Garden & Gun, and numerous national music publications.

Cultural Impact
Track 29 proved that Chattanooga could be a stop on national tours—not just a city bands drove past on the way to Nashville or Atlanta. It helped establish the Southside as an entertainment destination and brought thousands of visitors downtown.
We sold the venue in 2017, but its legacy continues. Track 29 showed what's possible when you invest in culture as part of development.
Lessons Learned
Running a music venue taught us something valuable about development: rooftops create demand. Add residents, and entertainment and retail follow. It's a lesson that informs every project we take on today.
